Todd McKie, named "one of Boston's finest and most influential artists" by the Christian Science Monitor, made his children's book debut in 2000 when he teamed up with Harriet Ziefert on the book First He Made The Sun. StorybookArt is proud to offer a selection of art from 3 of Todds childrens storybooks. In each case, he collaborated with the best selling author Harriet Ziefert. We have paintings from Squarehead, Egad Alligator and Lunchtime for a Purple Snake. Lunchtime was published in mid 2003. According to a review in the School Library Review, this book continues McKie and Ziefert's successful collaboration. "...text and illustrations support one another with a practiced precision. The bold, primitive pictures combine the fluid qualities of paint in the works of art with a crisp edge on the characters and setting." Todd is a graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been shown in museums and galleries across the country. In 2000, he was named artist in residence at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Decordova Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. Todd lives outside of Boston with his wife Judy who is an accomplished furniture maker and sculptor. They live with their dog Nemo. Please visit Todd’s web site at www.toddmckie.com
